Field Technical Service Representative-Metal Packaging

Our Food Division is a leading manufacturer of food cans in North America, serving markets including fruit, vegetables, dairy, fish, meat, ready meals, pet food, infant milk powder, and other dry foods.

We focus on excellence and offer a wide selection of food cans from round to bowl as well as shaped cans. This position supports Crown Food Division customers in the Northeastern United States and Eastern Canada.

Location:

This position will support Crown Food Division customers in the Northeastern United States and Eastern Canada.

This field technical service representative will spend the majority of time traveling to customer facilities to troubleshoot processes, investigate product quality issues, and conduct trials in a food manufacturing environment. The role serves as the primary technical contact for customers and acts as the liaison among customers, Crown Sales, R&D, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing.

• Provide problem-solving leadership on technical and quality matters relating to food can and end performance
• Manage the overall technical interface between the Food Division and customers
• Support customers in all technical aspects of the business including current packages and new package development
• Develop and manage technical meetings between Crown and customers to discuss ideas, issues, and solutions
• Interact directly with customers and internal manufacturing operations
• Collaborate with Sales, R&D, Engineering, and Manufacturing to develop strategies and action plans for current and potential new customers
• Extensive travel (up to 80%) to service customer needs

• BA/BS degree in Food Science, Engineering, Packaging or a related discipline
• 2+ years in a packaging manufacturing environment, food production, or a related industry
• Experience interfacing with customers in a technical capacity (field testing, qualification trials, claims management, etc.)
• Experience with double seaming technology, various canning equipment, and troubleshooting is preferred but not required
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to interact with customers and employees at all levels
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects to completion
• Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently
• Well organized with good time management and detail orientation
• Strong PC skills (Word, Outlook, Excel)
• Committed to ongoing personal development and career growth
• Knowledge and/or certification in Six Sigma is a bonus

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms; may balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• May lift and/or move up to 30 lbs
• Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color vision and ability to adjust focus

• Work may be outside of a typical office setting in a plant environment and in an office
• Possible exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic
• Possible exposure to a wide range of temperatures
• Noise level is frequently loud
