Overview
Machine Operator Trainee - 2nd shift - Shred. Full-time position with Lactalis USA, a world leader in dairy. Lactalis promotes from within and supports growth and development.
Location:
Buffalo, NY. Compensation: salary range listed below. This description reflects responsibilities, qualifications, and essential expectations for the role.
- Removes all loose cheese from the equipment using compressed air.
- Place non-edible cheeses into boxes labeled “Not for Human Consumption”.
- Bags electrical boxes and plugs to prepare equipment for sanitation.
- Clean and sanitize all equipment to meet regulatory standards.
- Tear down and set up all equipment for sanitation, including all packaging equipment.
- Set up and operate all packaging and related equipment. Responsible for quality, efficiencies, downtime and other tasks as required.
- Start up and change over Koch line and check for leaking bags according to HACCP.
- Continuously check the product for proper texture, general appearance, and product contamination.
- Monitor the size and shape of the cut to meet requirements (e.g., medium dice, large dice, retail dice, shredded formats).
- Monitor the amount of anti-caking agent added to the product in accordance with SOPs and ensure handling of cellulose powder is protected from foreign materials.
- Maintain proper weight ranges of product when packaging and stay within MAV.
- Spot check packages for errors in printing, color, registration, typography, clarity, and print location.
- Monitor the oxygen content in finished product packages hourly and after any mechanical adjustments.
- Accurately perform and record in the metal detector log, daily schedule control log, operational log, package film report, package loss report, weight control tape, and O2 logs.
- Basic mathematical skills (ability to calculate averages).
- Previous food manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Sanitation experience is a plus.
- High School Diploma required.
