Operations Manager
Job Summary
Responsible for managing one or multiple large projects or core client portfolios. Oversees Project Managers, Project Teams, Superintendents, and Project Engineers, and is accountable for program development and execution.
Responsibilities- Involved in prospective projects to bid and manage.
- Take lead role with estimates.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and walk-throughs.
- Read contract and input at bid time.
- Read specifications and input at bid time.
- Work with scheduler at bid time.
- Participate in war room on bid day.
- Unsuccessful Bid:
Conduct post-bid lessons learned review with estimators to identify errors or opportunities. - Successful Bid:
Intensive review of all numbers to identify missed scopes or errors; help identify change order opportunities early; attend post bid meetings with estimators, Project Executive, and Superintendent; clarify and address inconsistencies; establish leadership with customer/CM/architect; work with estimator and PM on buy‑out; ensure sub/supplier agreements cover important details; prequalify subcontractors; meet insurance and bond requirements; track buyout progress via buy‑out log;
code the job with estimators and Project Executive; attend all project meetings and assess conditions affecting profitability and operations; lead meetings and model professional conduct; demonstrate how to respond to situations; develop team strengths and weaknesses; instill urgency; conduct weekly project meetings on site covering safety, quality, productivity, billing, supplier issues, and policy compliance; demonstrate effective project run.
