Commercial Disputes & Litigation Counsel

Reporting
:
Report directly to the Assistant General Counsel – Litigation & Employment

What you will do
  • Advise on litigation strategy and actively manage day-to-day dispute and litigation matters (including pre-litigation), including drafting and responding to discovery requests, preparing court filings and briefs, preparing witnesses, conducting depositions, attending court as necessary, and responding to subpoenas.
  • Partner with internal business teams to provide timely, accurate, business-focused legal advice to operations and customer-facing departments with clear, concise communications.
  • Analyze and assess potential litigation risks and identify creative, practical solutions aligned with the company’s risk tolerance.
  • Handle arbitrations, mediations, investigations, and related matters as needed.
  • Manage litigation holds and the collection and review of documents and data for discovery, including via eDiscovery vendors.
  • Develop and manage a nationally disbursed panel of outside counsel.
  • Collaborate with business units to develop and improve litigation policies and processes (holds, eDiscovery, subpoenas).
  • Develop and maintain litigation management tools and metrics to track status and trends in the portfolio.
  • Provide status updates and litigation reports to key stakeholders as needed.
  • Stay current on emerging litigation trends, tools, and laws impacting ACV.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you will need
  • Minimum 7 years of commercial litigation experience, including at least 3 years of litigation management experience in-house.
  • Proven track record of handling in-house litigation, with preference for technology and B2B environments.
  • Strong business acumen applied to legal advice.
  • Adaptable and resilient with ability to assess risk and apply practical solutions.
  • Experience litigating a variety of commercial and contractual disputes on both plaintiff and defendant sides; debt collection experience is helpful.
  • Understanding of end-to-end litigation processes, legal research, eDiscovery, and contract drafting/interpretation.
  • Ability to work under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision; provide clear, business-friendly advice.
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills and the ability to drive issues to timely resolution.
  • High level of professional ethics and integrity.
Physical/Mental requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% or more of the workday.
  • Proficiency with computers, software applications, and basic typing.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

Compensation
: $153,000 - $191,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors as permitted by law.
