This position serves as the primary NICB contact with member companies and law enforcement agencies, providing advice on preventing and combating insurance-related crime and fraud in designated geographical areas. Special Agents initiate and conduct investigations which result in the dismantlement of organized groups/rings, arrests of those involved, loss mitigations, restitution, and reduction of insurance fraud. The position functions as the investigative arm of NICB, working in cooperation with member companies, law enforcement and other associated agencies to combat insurance-related crime.
WorkArrangement and Description
This is a field position assigned to an Area of Responsibility (AOR) and requires travel within that AOR to fulfill job responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Conduct timely and thorough multi-claim, multi-carrier criminal investigations.
- Collect, analyze, and calculate relevant data for use in investigations.
- Properly document all phases of investigative activity.
- Prepare summary investigative presentations for submission to law enforcement/prosecutor.
- Represent NICB in criminal court as requested, often testifying as an expert witness.
- Liaise with member companies, law enforcement and government agencies to promote and provide NICB services.
- Function as a “technical” expert in fraud investigations and identifying insurance fraud schemes/claim file review.
- Maintain membership in appropriate professional organizations.
- Collaborate effectively in a Task Force environment and contribute as a team player.
- Establish and maintain business relationships with member companies, law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and vendors.
- Provide comprehensive training to member companies and law enforcement on related insurance crime matters.
- Identify potential new member customers.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Operate and maintain NICB issued equipment, including the ability to drive a company vehicle.
- Bachelor’s degree or 7-10 years of equivalent experience required.
- Valid Driver’s license required; must be able to drive a company vehicle.
- 3-5 years of related investigative experience required.
- Insurance industry or law enforcement experience preferred.
This position has no direct reports.

$66,750 to $73,330.
