IT Project Manager, Scrum Master
Overview
The Scrum Master II provides servant leadership to cross-functional Agile teams, guiding them in the effective application of Agile frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, and Extreme Programming (XP). This role focuses on enabling teams to become highly collaborative, self-organizing, and continuously improving while delivering value through Agile best practices.
Primary Responsibilities- Coach and mentor Agile teams on Scrum, Kanban, and XP practices.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Utilize Agile techniques such as user stories, story mapping, retrospectives, ATDD, TDD, continuous integration, and information radiators.
- Identify and remove impediments impacting team performance.
- Promote metrics-driven decision making and workflow visibility.
- Collaborate with Agile leaders to strengthen Agile practices across the organization.
- Mentor less experienced Scrum Masters and promote learning opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to organizational risk, regulatory, and internal control standards.
This role does not have direct management responsibility but leads team activities through influence, accountability, and servant leadership.
Education and Experience Required- Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience working on Agile teams, including 2+ years as a Scrum Master, OR
- In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of combined education and/or work experience, including 4+ years on Agile teams and 2+ years as a Scrum Master.
- Demonstrated collaboration skills, metrics-driven delivery mindset, and strong servant leadership.
- Experience in multiple technology team roles (e.g., project manager, business analyst, developer, UX, testing, or deployment).
- Knowledge of Agile and Lean principles and practices.
- Experience supporting digital capability development.
- Familiarity with Design Thinking concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead and influence without direct authority.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
