OpEx Optimization Business Architect I – Univera Healthcare
Location:
Buffalo, NY
Job Description: This position will partner with both the business area and the technical teams to develop high‑quality deliverables across all phases of a project and/or complex process implementation, from identifying and defining process flows and use cases, through to user acceptance testing and deployment. It will mentor, train, and drive the use of technology across business functions, and provide technical training and user support to business groups.
EssentialAccountabilities Level I
- Partners with business leaders to understand the goals of the department/division and defines preferred process aligned with executing the strategy to achieve organizational goals.
- Evaluates operational trend data for process improvement opportunities and uses industry standard methodologies to integrate changes into current initiatives.
- Defines, prioritizes, and manages scope for teams ranging from small to large, and schedules, monitors, and reports on activities.
- Leads initiatives to accelerate business results through process improvement thinking, tools, and techniques, assessing and monitoring projects, and implementing solutions.
- Identifies, assesses, and solves complex business problems, conducting root‑cause analysis and escalating issues when necessary.
- Enhances communication within and outside the department/division on key priorities, fostering continuous improvement and exploring efficiencies.
- Meets with management, sponsors, and project teams to review scope/progress and resolve issues while ensuring compliance with State and Federal laws.
- Selects and applies appropriate tools to estimate and plan work of teams or project groups within agreed policies.
- Monitors and reports on the progress of high‑impact problem resolution and handles exceptions related to schedules, methods, resources, staff matters, or technical difficulties.
- Demonstrates high standards of integrity and supports the company’s mission, values, and code of conduct.
- Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with corporate privacy policies and procedures.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other functions as assigned by management.
- Defines, prioritizes, and manages scope for large‑medium sized teams and work efforts.
- Actively assesses and monitors projects independently, developing potential solutions and evaluating outcomes.
- Serves as lead and contact Health Plan‑wide for projects, answering questions and providing education internally and externally.
- Engineers solutions that optimize business processes, provides Pega requirement capture, and confirms system and business process optimization from initiation to operation.
- Develops, proposes, and completes project proposals and business cases, establishing appropriate metrics for key project criteria.
- Collaborates with IT and business teams, including Data Analytics, to implement the Health Plan data model within designed solutions.
- Researches emerging technologies and process/project management techniques, identifying innovation to advance business capabilities.
- Coaches others to progress cross‑functional skill development and fosters relationships between business and technical teams.
- Defines and evolves functional roles and responsibilities to ensure a greater understanding of best practices.
- Oversees the creation, development, and ratification of business architect standards, mentoring staff in their implementation.
- Six (6) or more years of cumulative related experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; experience in the Health Plan or healthcare industry preferred.
- Prior professional, co‑op or internship experience in analysis, requirements gathering, design, and development of enterprise application systems or relevant coursework.
- Experience with in an Agile environment, software architecture, service‑oriented architecture implementation, and designing/developing process‑based solutions.
- Experience writing requirements or user stories that are clear, concise, and well organized.
