The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing all aspects of the HR function at this location, directly reporting to the Vice President/General Manager. This includes overseeing recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, policy development, procedural implementation, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. The HR Generalist plays a pivotal role in shaping organizational culture, enhancing employee engagement, and aligning HR practices with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS): Integrate EHS into the daily management process to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Lead recruitment efforts for both hourly and salaried positions and oversee the full onboarding process.
  • Employee Relations: Manage employee relations, resolve conflicts, and oversee disciplinary actions.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including wage and hour regulations.
  • Policy Management: Update and maintain HR policies and procedures, including those in the employee handbook.
  • Job Description s: Work closely with management to develop and maintain job descriptions, ensuring alignment with business goals and required skills.
  • Employee Engagement & Retention: Support initiatives to improve employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Investigations: Conduct investigations into complaints and harassment allegations, ensuring legal and ethical handling.
  • HRIS Management: Oversee the maintenance and utilization of the HR Information System (HRIS).
  • Record Maintenance: Ensure all personnel and benefits-related records comply with state and federal laws.
  • Termination & Exit Interviews: Manage the termination process and conduct exit interviews to gather feedback and improve organizational practices.
  • Leave Management: Administer leaves of absence, including PTO, FMLA, and other state-specific benefits, in line with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Benefits Administration: Oversee employee benefits, including enrollment, issue resolution, and compliance for medical, dental, life insurance, COBRA, and voluntary benefits.
  • Monthly Benefit Audits: Conduct monthly benefit billing audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Unemployment Claims: Manage responses to unemployment claims.
Additional Responsibilities

This role carries significant exposure to compliance risks, including potential violations of Total Energies’ Code of Conduct, fraud, and corruption. As part of the role, the HR Generalist is expected to uphold strict adherence to Hutchinson’s internal controls and ethical standards. Responsibilities include identifying and mitigating risks, participating in mandatory ethics training, and ensuring sound decision-making in interactions with third parties.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices, including ADEA, ADA, EEOC, COBRA, ERISA, FLSA, FMLA, HIPAA, and wage and hour regulations.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and data reporting tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Certifications: SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is highly desired.

    Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Position Details

This position is based on-site, requiring a mix of office and manufacturing plant work. Occasional travel may be required. The role utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
