Salary

NOW $22.57 PER HOUR – Highest Residential Direct Support Professional base rate in the WNY area! No shift or worksite differentials! All Residential DSP III’s begin at $22.57 per hour.

Employment

Part Time (15–29 hrs. per week) & LIMITED Full Time (30–40 hrs. per week)

Job Summary

Ensure safety and supervision of all individuals focusing on fulfilling the Agency’s Mission, Vision and Values and providing services which meet or exceed the goals of the individual, department and agency.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Valid & approved NYS Driver’s License

Essential Functions

Provides assistance, training and supervision with various activities of daily living, helping each individual to improve their ability to be more independent while addressing specific individualized outcomes as outlined in the staff action plans.

  • Provides positive behavioral support and teaches self-advocacy skills
  • Acts as a role model for program participants by interacting with others in a professional and respectful manner, dressing appropriately, and using good personal hygiene
  • Administers medications, monitors health, and helps residents achieve personal health goals

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assure people’s overall safety through maintaining safety standards, familiar with emergency safety procedures, and providing regular training
  • Intervene with inappropriate and/or potentially injurious behaviors in the least restrictive manner possible
  • Transport people to medical appointments, recreation activities and other appointments/activities as scheduled
  • Assist in the maintenance of records
  • Document the provision of services, skill acquisitions and supports daily, contemporaneous and consistent with the Staff Action Plan and Agency procedures
  • Assist people with personal monies and shopping needs
  • Provide first aid when necessary and address routine health care needs
  • Prepare or assist people with meal preparation, meal planning and purchasing of food
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment by completing housekeeping and minor maintenance tasks and by providing training and assistance to people in these areas
  • Provide input to the treatment team in the development of a person-centered plan
  • Assist in the assessment of a person’s skills and behavior
  • Attend regular staff meetings, trainings, supervisory conferences and any other assigned meetings
  • Check agency email regularly, update supervisor on changes in contact information, maintain communication, complete online training modules in a timely fashion
  • Follow DSP Core Competencies expectations for completing evaluations
  • Assist people with community integration, by providing support and training
  • Keep in mind weather, health or other emergency situations; redeploy as needed
  • Assure confidentiality of information about people
  • Interact with people’s families, other stakeholders and the community-at-large as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • When directed to work at another site, reimbursement for mileage between sites; remain awake and perform duties as per the job description or as assigned
  • When redeployed to another physical location or line of business, may include redeployment/temporary reassignment
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • High School or equivalent diploma preferred
  • In lieu of high school diploma, new hires must complete all Arc Erie County New York’s training: SCIP, First Aid, CPR and Medication Certification
  • Human Services Experience Preferred
  • Have and maintain a valid NYS driver's license and approved driving record
  • For CSS Positions only:
    Ownership and access to an insured car in good operating condition is required
