School Based Speech Language Pathologist (33396)
Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is seeking a full‑time Speech Language Pathologist for our Rosewood school‑age (K‑2) special education program in Cheektowaga. This is a year‑round position that will include working our 6‑week program in future summers. BHSC provides a free continuing education program as well as yearly ASHA dues reimbursement for eligible full‑time employees.
Responsibilities- Evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for students (grades K‑2) with communication disorders in an educational setting.
- Implementation of appropriate Speech‑Language Pathology instruction designed to teach, habilitate, or rehabilitate the communicatively impaired student.
- Collaboration with classroom teachers, other SLPs, OTs, PTs, audiologists, supervisors, and others as appropriate.
- Submits written reports of evaluations, treatment, and educational plans, progress reports, and discharge reports as appropriate. Maintain paperwork within legal and agency guidelines.
- Makes appropriate referrals as needed in order to affect positive therapeutic results.
- Communicates regularly with family/student.
- Exhibit professional judgment, maturity, and upgrades professional knowledge through participation in continuing education programs, in‑service programs, formal staff training, and maintaining SLP licensure and TSSLD certification.
- Licensed Speech Pathologists are required to supervise CFYs and TSSLDs appropriately, ensuring legal guidelines and agency policies are precisely followed.
- Any other duty as requested by your supervisor.
Master’s degree from University/College of accredited speech language pathology program.
Required License/Registration/Certification- New York State licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist (or CFY eligible)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology issued by the American Speech‑Language Hearing Association (ASHA) (or CFY eligible)
- Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) Initial or Professional certificate or TSHH Permanent certificate.
- Physical actions may include, but are not limited to: bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.
- Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
- Frequent sitting/standing and when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
