Overview
Summary:
Performs simple and complex tests in a clinical laboratory to provide data for use in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer and cancer-related diseases in a timely, accurate and dependable manner. Routine assignment will be in the Chemistry and Hematology sections of the clinical laboratory. Routine schedule may include a weekend shift.
Required Education and Experience
License Requirement
- License to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or
- Eligibility for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technician in the State of New York.
Education and Experience
Associate's degree in Medical Technology or a related health care discipline.
NOTES:
- License to practice as a Certified Histological Technician in the State of New York may be accepted in lieu of the licensure requirement for positions assigned to the Histology Service; or
- Eligibility for licensure as a Certified Histological Technician in the State of New York may be accepted in lieu of the licensure eligibility requirement for those positions assigned to the Histology Service.
- As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain and maintain the required licensure within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
- Possession of the Clinical Laboratory Technician licensure supersedes educational requirements listed above, as stated in section 58-1.5 (e) of the NYS Codes, Rules and Regulations.
- Possession of the Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure supersedes educational requirements listed above, as stated in section 58-1.5 (b) of the NYS Codes, Rules and Regulations.
