Audit Professional Practices Consultant - Training
Hybrid (3 days/week) – Candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to Buffalo, NY;
Bridgeport, CT; or Wilmington, DE. Hybrid candidates in NYC or Boston, MA are considered if within commutable distance.
This role provides senior‑level expertise in the professional practice of internal audit training development and delivery. It requires in‑depth internal audit and risk knowledge to assess, develop, and deliver effective training to the Internal Audit Division.
Primary Responsibilities Effective Internal Audit Practices- Stay abreast of best practices, industry developments, and emerging risks.
- Conduct industry research and analyze the current environment to drive effectiveness and innovation in Internal Audit training.
- Design, maintain, and execute an effective Internal Audit training program that supports IA’s conformance to professional standards and regulatory expectations.
- Contribute to the Division’s success through partnership with peers and others beyond primary ownership.
- Organize and complete work within established budgets and time frames with minimal direction.
- Incorporate data analytics throughout the Professional Practices program.
- Support the department’s strategic objectives.
- Exhibit strong management, interpersonal, and decision‑making skills with initiative.
- Present effectively in physical and virtual environments, tailoring content to all proficiency levels.
- Communicate proactively with senior audit team members and stakeholders.
- Build strong partnerships with stakeholders and audit team members.
- Demonstrate strong judgment, political acumen, and cultural sensitivity.
- Coach and mentor junior audit team members, tailoring approaches to their skills.
- Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls.
- Promote an inclusive environment reflecting the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, addressing audit points and regulator issues.
- Complete related duties as assigned.
- Operate independently within a matrix reporting environment; own one or more programs within the Professional Practices team.
- Communicate directly with senior, middle, and line management and external auditors.
- Interact periodically with external regulatory agencies.
- Coach audit professionals; limited responsibility for performance management and compensation planning.
- Bachelor’s degree (Accountancy, Business, Finance, Tech, Cybersecurity, Math, Stats, etc.) and 7+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years of leadership.
- Alternatively, 11+ years of higher education/work experience with 2+ years managerial experience.
- Articulate communicator with energetic, charismatic style.
- Strong judgment, political acumen, and cultural sensitivity.
- Project management skills; initiative; critical thinking.
- Collaborate with senior management to implement change.
- Subject‑matter expertise in internal audit methodology and regulatory expectations.
- MBA or Master’s degree.
- Certifications (CPA, CIA, CISA, etc.).
- Financial services industry experience.
Salary
: $107,500 – $179,100 annual (USD).
