What to Expect

As a Reliability Test Engineer focusing on electrical and mechanical testing, you will play a key role reliability improvement into Tesla Energy's. This position plays a crucial role in the reliability lifecycle of the product from development testing/analysis, manufacturing, and field operation to optimize product design for best-in-class lifetime customer experience.

What You'll Do

* Perform reliability testing for Charging & Residential energy products

* Determine component/system level test solutions that optimize product reliability and durability, PFMEA-based risk mitigations, test team resources, and program schedules

* Execute independently Tesla energy product, subsystems (including switching converters, enclosures, busbars/conductors and actuators)

* Conduct test data analysis, and clearly communicate test results, and collaborate with design and reliability engineers to resolve issues detected in testing

* Procure and develop required test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems to enhance creative component and product level reliability testing

* Facilitate test failure root cause analysis to understand the root cause and drive resolution for failures originating in testing

* Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with design, reliability, and manufacturing engineers to suggest design and/or process improvements and address reliability and durability issues based on understanding of failure root causes

* Continuously drive product risk burndown to ensure product design is reliable and durable during reliability tests

* Capability and willingness to train technicians/interns to operate and troubleshoot test systems to optimize the workload

* Comply with safety policies and regulations

What You'll Bring

* Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience

* Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in power electronics hardware design, design validation, hardware testing, mechanical system reliability, and durability testing

* Knowledge of programming in scripting languages for test automation and data analysis/post-processing (Python preferred)

* Experience specifying sensors for test instrumentation and utilizing data acquisition systems, and using basic hand and power tools

* Experience working safely with high voltage equipment (up to 1kV)

* Experience pro-actively owning and delivering test engineering projects within accelerated validation timelines

* Excellent written and verbal communication as well as organization and documentation skills

Expected Compensation

* Associate Test Engineer - $82,440 - $123,660/annual salary

* Test Engineer - $98,640 - $147,960/annual salary

* Sr Test Engineer - $117,360 - $176,040/annual salary

+ cash and stock awards + benefits
