Sr. Design Drafter

This is a hands-on role for someone who can take incomplete requirements and turn them into complete design packages, while maintaining strict adherence to engineering, manufacturing, and military documentation standards.

• Collaborate with Design Engineers to support conceptual and detailed design development

• Prepare complete design packages with minimal technical input, including:

  • Layouts

  • Schematics

  • Detail and assembly drawings

  • Parts lists (BOMs)

• Perform complex redesigns and repackaging of existing products, including component and hardware sizing/selection

• Execute engineering calculations related to sizing, performance, tolerances, and assembly

• Select appropriate components, materials, and manufacturing processes

• Design tooling and fixtures as required

• Review and verify work completed by junior drafting personnel

• Ensure compliance with company and military standards for design documentation

• Support Production in resolving manufacturing and design-related issues

• Coordinate with Production on:

  • Kit structures

  • Alternate parts

  • Revision control

• Manage assigned projects to ensure on-time completion of deliverables

• 10+ years of mechanical design/drafting experience

• Minimum Associate’s degree in Engineering (or related technical discipline)

• Extensive experience with high-performance, high-density packaging design

• Ability to work independently with minimal technical input

• Strong understanding of:

  • Engineering principles

  • Drafting standards

  • Manufacturing processes

• Model-Based Definition (MBD) experience highly desired

• Proficiency with Siemens NX (3D MCAD) preferred

• Mentoring or directing junior drafters

• Vendor coordination for dimensional and functional specifications

• Presenting design results and clearly substantiating:

  • Assumptions

  • Constraints

  • Analyses
