The Lead R&D Engineer / Scientist will drive the development of next‑generation compressor technologies for emerging refrigerants. This role combines advanced CFD modeling with targeted experimental validation to accelerate innovation in high‑performance, low‑environmental‑impact refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems. The position also plays a key role in building internal simulation capabilities and guiding industry partners through the transition to new refrigerant solutions. This role is central to shaping future product platforms and supporting commercialization of breakthrough technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Lead CFD modeling and simulation of compressor components and full compressor systems to evaluate flow behavior, heat transfer, leakage, and overall performance.
- Develop and refine new compressor concepts tailored for next‑generation refrigerants.
- Analyze complex technical challenges and propose innovative, cost‑effective solutions.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to internal teams, customers, and industry stakeholders.
- Contribute to invention and IP development related to compressor technology and refrigerant applications.
- Ensure all work aligns with HSE standards and organizational best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and development activities aligned with organizational goals and objectives
- Design and conduct experiments, simulations, and analyses to drive new technology and product development
- Lead ideation, conceptualization, and prototyping of innovative solutions
- Collaborate with internal and external partners
- Ensure R&D projects meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality protocols
- Contribute to strategies for successful commercialization of R&D innovations
- Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent research experience.
- 5 years of experience in compressor research and testing, centrifugal technology preferred, chiller/refrigeration systems, and advanced thermal‑fluid research.
- Demonstrated experience with CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS, STAR‑CCM+, OpenFOAM) applied to rotating machinery.
- Deep understanding of compressor thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
- Experience with centrifugal(oil‑free), scroll or screw compressors.
- Ability to bridge simulation and experimental work to guide design decisions.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience working on global, cross‑functional teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction.
- Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and technology commercialization.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to technical leadership.
The annual base salary range for this position is $155,000 - $194,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
