Environmental & Wastewater Compliance Manager
Acara Solutions is seeking a Environmental & Wastewater Compliance Manager to join our client on a Full-Time Direct hire opportunity available in Batavia NY
Responsible for environmental compliance and wastewater operations, including oversight of a Wastewater Pre-Treatment Plant (WWPTP) and contract operators. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations while driving continuous improvement in environmental performance.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as subject matter expert for environmental compliance.
- Ensure compliance with EPA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and related regulations.
- Manage environmental permitting (air, water, waste) and regulatory reporting (TRI, Tier II, NPDES, DMRs, emissions inventories).
- Lead internal audits and support external regulatory inspections and third-party audits.
- Analyze environmental performance data; implement corrective actions and continuous improvements.
- Develop and standardize environmental policies, procedures, KPIs, and training programs.
- Coordinate spill response, remediation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Promote waste reduction, water conservation, and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Provide environmental training and mentoring to EHS and plant teams.
- Monitor regulatory changes and advise leadership on compliance impacts.
- Oversee WWPTP operations and act as liaison between plant operations and wastewater providers.
Required Skills /
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 5 years minimum experience in environmental compliance, wastewater operations, or regulatory support.
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of environmental regulations, data analysis, and risk assessment.
- Experience developing reports, policies, and compliance programs.
- Ability to operate in a union environment with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Flexible schedule availability; on-call support as required.
