Project Engineer – Civil/Site Engineering
Popli Design Group (PDG gearbeitet) is a multi‑disciplined Architecture/Engineering firm located in Buffalo, NY. We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Civil/Site Engineering Department and lead civil/site projects across New York State.
DescriptionAs a Project Engineer you will work as part of ettiği multidisciplinary project teams, leading civil/site projects for commercial, industrial, municipal, academic/institutional and residential clients. Responsibilities include engineering analysis and design, modeling/drafting, preparation of plans and specifications, technical report writing, cost estimating and construction observation.
In addition you will mentor junior staff, serve as the primary point of contact with clients, and provide critical guidance to both internal and external project stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Independently develop and/or oversee site plans, traffic circulation pathways, roadways & parking lots, site utilities, grading/drainage, watershed models, design calculations, and other elements in support of comprehensive civil/site design projects.
- Delegate or assign design tasks to junior staff.
- Oversee and assist in preparation and review of technical engineering documents, including plans, specifications, reports and cost estimates.
- Perform technical and quality reviews of engineering work by others in accordance with company and client design standards.
- May serve as Engineer of Record for designs performed under your direct supervision.
- Coordinate with project staff, clients and governmental agencies to acquire necessary permits or approvals.
- May be required to travel within New York State for project design investigations and/or construction support oversight.
- Proven experience using AutoCAD/Civil 3D for site design and drawing packages.
- Proven experience with watershed modeling and site hydrology/hydraulic design software (TR55, TR20, Hydro
CAD, Hydraflow Express or similar). - Proven experience with NYS stormwater management requirements and preparation of SWPPPs, permitting forms and construction inspections.
- Proven experience with NYS erosion & sediment control design and planning.
- Proven experience with local municipal site plan review and NYS SEQR, including EAF preparation.
- Knowledge of local utility companies, municipalities and associated design standards.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Strong technical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail, accuracy and completeness. - Proven ability to progress technical concepts from inception through final design with minimal oversight.
- Proven ability to lead and prioritize multiple assignments across disciplines.
- Willingness to learn and embrace technology to improve internal workflows.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an office setting.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize as required.
- Willingness to embrace PDG quality culture in all aspects of design.
- Understanding of basic safety requirements and commitment to PDG safety culture.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum six years of demonstrated site design experience (8–10+ years preferred).
- NYS PE license.
- CPESC, LEED AP, and/or ENV SP certification is a plus威
- Previous experience working in a multidisciplinary A/E office environment is a plus.
- A valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) are required.
