Position: Chemical / Environmental Engineer

Chemical / Environmental Engineer – Buffalo, NY (On-Site)

A leading industrial manufacturing facility is seeking a highly motivated chemical engineer or environmental engineer to support critical plant operations in Buffalo, NY. This full‑time, on‑site role is designed for professionals with a strong foundation in process engineering, environmental compliance, and industrial safety, particularly within high‑reliability, regulated environments such as defense manufacturing, aerospace production, or advanced industrial systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support chemical process design, optimization, and root‑cause troubleshooting to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations, including EPA, state, and local environmental standards, with a focus on sustainability and risk mitigation.
  • Conduct hazard analysis, risk assessments, and implement robust safety protocols aligned with OSHA and industrial hygiene standards.
  • Manage and enhance systems for waste treatment, air emissions control, and water quality monitoring, supporting both operational efficiency and environmental stewardship.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers, to support continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely environmental documentation, including permit compliance, chemical inventory tracking, and safety inspection records.
  • Oversee process control systems and contribute to automation and data‑driven improvements in line with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a chemical plant, industrial manufacturing facility, or similar regulated production environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations, process safety management, and industrial hygiene standards.
  • Proficiency in engineering design and simulation software such as AutoCAD, Aspen Plus, or equivalent process modeling tools.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, technical writing, and team collaboration skills; ability to communicate effectively across departments.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with DoD, aerospace, or defense industry standards is a plus, though not required.
