Overview

Manufacturing Engineer at Altec Industries – Buffalo, NY. Altec AIR manufactures large desiccant dryers for oil and gas, industrial compressed air and process control. The role is located at the Lancaster, NY facility and reports to the Senior Staff Engineer.

• Manufacturing Engineering (40%) – Work with Plant Manager and production associates to identify improvement areas such as cell layout, designing tools and fixtures, workflow, inventory reduction, component cost and labor reduction.
• Plan and lead RCI events.
• Learn and effectively manage the Altec AIR ERP System (part creation, BOMs, routings).
• Quality Engineering (40%) – Collaborate with Altec Corporate Quality to improve Altec AIR’s Quality Audit score.
• Develop Supplier and Production Quality Systems.
• Provide engineering support to outside sales and service.
• Assist Tech Support in troubleshooting compressed air systems in the field and in production.
• Identify and resolve product support and other quality issues by facilitating design or manufacture changes.
• Identify warranty and production top drivers, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Product Design/New Product Development (20%) – Perform basic product design tasks including sheet metal component design, basic electrical circuit understanding and pneumatic systems.
• Participate on Altec AIR’s PCP teams to develop new products within scope, manufacturability, serviceability and efficiency.
• Create and update engineering drawings according to Altec AIR’s Engineering standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical or Aerospace).
• Minimum one year of experience (two years preferred).
• Altec Manufacturing and/or Quality experience preferred.
• Confidently work with domestic and international suppliers to identify and improve quality, cost, delivery, safety drivers.
• Knowledge of Solid Works (part, assembly, drawing creation, configurations, sheet metal modeling).
• Understanding of pneumatic systems and confidence to troubleshoot.
• Academic exposure to psychrometrics preferred and ability to learn and apply it.
