We are looking for talented Project Engineers to join our Northeast Water business at offices in Syracuse and Buffalo, NY. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on water, wastewater, utility, and infrastructure design projects that shape communities across the region.
As a Project Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering innovative solutions alongside a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team. In this role, you will assist with preparing technical reports, design drawings, contract documents, cost estimates, and permits. You’ll lead and support client workshops focused on advancing technical studies and designs, while also developing project delivery strategies and job management plans to ensure compliance with QA standards.
Your work will involve supporting pricing, estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for new projects, as well as coordinating CAD teams to produce high‑quality design and construction documents. You’ll conduct field investigations and condition assessments to identify process improvements, manage communication on technical and contractual issues, and facilitate client meetings to keep projects on track.

Responsibilities- Engineering Drawings:
Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions. - Engineering Solutions Design:
Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions. - Personal Capability Building:
Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. - Technical Developments Recommendation:
Research and suggest technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs. - Product and Solution Development:
Define and deliver products and services that meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems. - Project Management:
Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals. - Research:
Carry out a range of research activities either to support others or to fulfill the requirements of the role. - Technical Troubleshooting:
Support technical troubleshooting efforts, aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of technical issues with equipment and experiments.
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- EIT certification.
- At least 3-5 years of municipal water experience including experience in the state of New York; prior water and wastewater infrastructure design experience with local municipalities a plus.
Salary range: $72,300 - $120,500 based on experience.
