Associate Director of Residence Life, Residential Education
Internal applications are being accepted for the position of Associate Director of Residence Life, Residential Education. This is an internal job posting limited to active employees at SUNY Buffalo State who are currently paid from any state‑appropriated‑funds payroll.
The Associate Director of Residence Life is responsible for providing leadership for Residential Education initiatives in Residence Life. This position reports to the Director of Residence Life and provides leadership in programming, training, and development of residence life staff (central office, full time, graduate, and undergraduate staff), and staff supervision. Connecting resident and community assistants, professional staff, residents, faculty, and staff in meaningful initiatives which support student retention, community building and social Justice.
This position is responsible for the administration and supervision of professional live‑in staff.
The Associate Director of Residence Life in consultation with the Director of Residence Life, will provide strategic direction including the development and implementation of unit‑level goals, assessment, and evaluation in alignment with the strategic goals of the division and the university and specifically related to staff and residents. In order to complete these responsibilities, this role must complete all administrative tasks associated with the role including, but not limited to, budgetary reconciliation.
This position serves in the Leadership On‑Call rotation and is designated essential critical. As a result, this position requires occasional night and weekend work.
Required Qualifications- Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education Administration or related discipline
- Professional experience in higher education
- Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with residential programming, training and supervision
- Experience with crisis on‑call responsibilities
- Experience providing customer service to students, families and staff
- Ability to model ethical behavior
- Ability to work with a diverse campus community
- Experience with professional staff supervision
- Experience with student staff supervision, training and hiring practices
