The University at Buffalo Gifted Math Program is looking for a part‑time experienced mathematics teacher for an after school math class at a grade level in the range 7-12. The classes take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 to 6:30 p.m. or from 6:30-9 p.m. They run from September through April. The Gifted Math Program works with 7th through 12th graders throughout Western New York who compete through rigorous testing to enter this program.
ResponsibilitiesInclude
- Preparing and teaching for 5 hours of class time per week.
- Differentiating instruction for a diverse group of students.
- Communicating with students, parents, and GMP staff by responding in a timely way to emails and phone calls.
- Attending staff meetings.
- Posting grades and assignments on UB Learns in a timely way or supervising an instructional assistant in doing this.
- Helping students with individual needs through feedback, phone calls home, and conferencing.
- Helping students who are absent due to illness or mandatory school activities to obtain missing work.
