Candidates must hold New York State certification as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped or Teacher of the Speech and Language Disabled with abilingual extension.

Candidates must attach a PDF or a screenshot of their certifications. New York State Licensure and Registration as a Speech‑Language Pathologist and ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence are preferred. Candidates must know Medicaid Regulations, ASHA Scope and Practice of Speech‑Language Pathology, and Federal and State Regulations on Speech Pathology.

Duties include but are not limited to establishing an environment to enhance individual growth and promote effective communication and speech‑language skills, facilitating ongoing services for students with disabilities, conducting speech‑language screening and evaluations, working cooperatively with school personnel to accomplish the goals and objectives stated on IEPs, planning, organizing, and delivering high‑quality speech‑language services, monitoring and evaluating student progress, maintaining records and reports, enforcing Board of Education policies, regulations, and rules, maintaining school property and materials and performing any assigned duties as deemed necessary.

The Board of Education will make the appointment upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following the assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials, and service evaluation. Personal interviews will be scheduled where appropriate.

In addition, the employee will be required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other related duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator or supervisor.
