The Assistant Dean for Admissions will provide leadership in recruitment, admission, and matriculation of prospective medical students into the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He or she will work closely with the Associate Dean of Admissions, Director of Admissions, and the Admissions Administrative Assistant, and collaborate with the Office of Medical Education. The position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Admissions.
Responsibilities- Assist in the development, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of a comprehensive recruitment and admissions plan.
- Serve as a member of the Admissions Committee and the Screening, Interviewing, Selection, and Wait List Subcommittees.
- Assist in coordination and management of the Webad
MIT by AMCAS platform. - Evaluate and recommend applicants through screening applications and conducting interviews.
- Assist in training the Admissions Committee (faculty, staff, students, community members) on holistic review, curriculum, and policy changes or new initiatives.
- Represent the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences regionally and participate in on‑campus and off‑campus recruitment events.
- Assist in selecting and training Student Ambassadors to support admissions and recruitment efforts.
- Assist in the scholarship process in partnership with the Office of Resource Management, Office of Financial Aid, and the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education.
- Maintain relationships with faculty, administrators, current students, and alumni; solicit their participation in recruiting and outreach events.
- Become proficient in admissions portal (Webad
MIT for AMCAS) and other systems, including SLATE and HUB. - Respond to communications with prospective students.
- Engage and collaborate with community partners.
- Participate in regional and national professional conferences.
- Perform other relevant duties as needed and assigned by the Dean of Admissions.
