Job Summary:

The Site Superintendent is directly responsible for overseeing the operations of a construction site, from planning to completion. The Site Superintendent is responsible for daily scheduling, supervising all activities and tasks, and ensuring the safety and compliance of the site.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

* Project dependent.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Responsible for the inspection of Contractor or (Sub) Contract operations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

* Maintains healthy relationships with our internal and external clients, including representatives of the VA Hospitals.

* Develops and maintains site logistics plan, in coordination with Project Managers.

* Conducts quality safety inspections.

* Takes on the role of Site Safety while on the project.

* Coordinates site testing and inspection efforts.

* Monitors costs, including labor time and material.

* Manages employees' schedules.

* Prepares and submits Daily Reports to the VA.

* Attends and participates in all project meetings, including subcontractor meetings.

* Conducts weekly safety meetings (Toolbox Talks).

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* Good math and accounting skills.

* Strong management skills (able to manage multiple crews on multiple projects).

* Strong ability to read drawings and specifications.

* Delegates work appropriately to Site Supervisors.

* Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.

* Excellent time management and organizational skills.

* Must be a self-starter.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office and related construction software's.

* Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, schedules and have strong decision-making skills.

* Ability to supervise multiple trades and maintain quality control of varied government construction projects per plans and specifications provided.

Education & Experience:

* High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, Community College, Trade School or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

* Minimum ten (10) years' experience in a superintendent role in commercial construction.

* Experience working with the Veterans Affairs Hospitals, or on Government Projects.

* General Contractor (GC) License and Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification preferred.

* Prior military experience preferred

* OSHA 30-hour certification required.

* First Aid/CPR certification required.

Physical Requirements:

* Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

* Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and working on-site.

* Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, noise, and dust.

* Manual dexterity and physical stamina for handling tools and equipment

* Travel is required.

Work Environment:

* Work is performed on construction sites.

* Exposure to external weather conditions that can include inclement, heat, and humidity.

* Exposure to construction site environments, including noise, dust, and machinery.

* Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when on-site.
