Overview

Facilities-related work and operational support for the University Libraries, including coordinating with internal and external partners, managing space-related projects, and overseeing access, security, and mail operations as part of daily library operations.

Responsibilities
  • Completes facilities related work requests that are submitted through the Libraries’ ticketing system.
  • Establishes and works with internal and external committees and partners to address concerns, such as space inventories and audits, and campus and departmental renovation initiatives.
  • Stays informed about current projects such as the Abbott Library renovations (Joyce, associated 3rd and 4th floor renovations), moving collections to the Libraries Annex, and Lockwood Memorial Library renovation. May be asked to assist on projects or participate in associated committees.
  • Manages the distribution and tracking of keys; makes copies and changes locks, as needed.
  • Assists with the management and operation of the card access system.
  • Serves as a liaison to the Manager of Library Security Operations; works closely on security issues impacting assigned buildings.
  • Serves as the primary liaison to custodial operations.
  • Collaborates with Libraries faculty and staff to move collections in conjunction with large projects.
  • Monitors the Libraries’ Chat Service to respond to and address complaints or concerns.
  • Manages the booking of classroom spaces within the University Libraries.
  • Oversees the mail operation at Abbott Library, including creating mailboxes and distributing mail.
  • Purchases supplies and equipment, as needed.
  • Helps set priorities, develop policies and procedures, and create long-range strategies under the direction of the FPMO for the unit’s operational needs and the needs of the University as a whole.
  • Assists in other areas, including furniture and flooring projects, furniture and office moves, and emergency response.
  • Responsible for coordinating, scheduling and meeting with vendors.
  • Completes the annual space report by verifying the primary occupant(s) and purpose of Libraries spaces.
  • Hires, trains and supervises student assistant workers.
  • Sets priorities and goals for student workers and provides guidance on job duties.
