The Phlebotomist / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the front-facing representative for patients receiving diagnostic services. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring patient comfort, confidentiality, and accuracy throughout the process. The PSR I demonstrates professionalism and leadership behaviors while working independently in a fast-paced clinical or hospital environment and maintaining strict adherence to established procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Perform clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing
- Draw blood specimens safely and accurately, including pediatric and geriatric collections
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established practices
- Maintain accurate records and required documentation
- Ensure a safe, professional, and patient-centered environment
- Explain procedures clearly to patients to promote trust and confidence
- Work independently with minimal on-site supervision
- Promote a positive image to patients, clients, and the public
Required Skills:
- Strong phlebotomy skills
, including pediatric and geriatric collections - Ability to deliver error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Keyboarding and data entry proficiency
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Preferred
Skills:
- Medical assistant or paramedic training
- One or more years of phlebotomy experience
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
- Certification: Phlebotomy certification preferred
- Required only in California, Nevada, and Washington
- Experience:
- Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required
- 1+ year of experience preferred
- Hospital Site: Yes — additional credentialing may be required
- Ability to support variable staffing needs, including overtime and on-call shifts
