Position: APU Process Engineer

The APU Process Engineer is responsible for maximizing effectiveness by proactively identifying ways to increase productivity and efficiency, and by managing human capital in a hi-speed assembly manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Develops competencies of the production unit through internal and external training and development as needed.
  • Define and update standard operating procedures (SOP) for production employees.
  • Assess and train setters.
  • Report outcomes to the APU Shift Leader.
  • Support APU Shift Leader and managers in analyzing shop floor issues and escalation points.
  • Propose technical solutions to improve production processes and identify opportunities to reduce cost, lead-time, and inventory.
  • Analyze equipment performance indicators and facilitate corrective actions implementation (e.g., CAPA).
  • Know, apply, and facilitate implementation of Continuous Improvement rules (5S, TPM, SMED, VSM, etc.).
  • Facilitate work groups linked to continuous improvement and propose action plans.
  • Accountable for APU equipment improvements; document and communicate improvements in cycle time.
  • Point of contact for standard audits.
  • Act as the production voice in industrialization projects (NPI phase 5-6: FAT, design review, specs review, ramp-up).
  • Attend project reviews and transfer knowledge of new assets.
  • Contribute to new equipment development, reception, and validation in production.
  • Serve as SME on APU processes and share best practices across the organization.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including the use of PPE as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience; preferred experience in manufacturing with vision systems, assembly automation equipment.
  • Experience with plastic injection molding and high-speed automation equipment preferred.
  • Strong math, reading, and communication skills required.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand/walk up to 90% of shift.
  • Able to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, grab and climb as needed.
Preferred Knowledge / Skills
  • SAP experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with advanced problem solving.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and multi-task environment with minimal supervision.
Work Environment
  • ISO 8 Clean Room production, warehouse and general office environment with moderate noise levels and travel to and from machines, offices and/or clean rooms.
  • Occasional travel between campus buildings by car or foot.

Position Range: $80,000 - $120,000 USD salaried
