This role,
Manager, Repair Operations
, will lead the planning, development, implementation, communication and administration of the Repair Operations team. If you have the desire to maximize the benefits to the company in terms of optimal service, adequate inventory, and timely product turnaround in a repair environment, we have the job for you.
- Assist in the development of the Department's operating and capital expense budget, both short-term and long-term needs, and continually monitor. Authority for budgetary approval based on established levels as dictated by company policy.
- Work with Director to establish Department action plan. Ensure monthly plan is met. Prepare progress/status reports as needed.
- Oversee and enhance all Repair functions; investigate repair equipment and recommend improvements.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures.
- Monitor workflow throughout the department; control inventory of common parts needed for repairs.
- Evaluate skill standards and ensure that all training programs effectively enhance the cross training of employees at an acceptable level of proficiency. Ensure ongoing skill development, effective coverage and enhanced communication through regular meetings and communication.
- Work with other departments and Division Director to ensure that products are properly inspected and policies and procedures are in place. Promote Kaizen, Speak Out, and other company quality programs.
- Attend new product launch meetings providing status reports on test equipment/manpower/parts needed to support new products in Repair.
- Work with Director to establish Department's action plan. Ensure monthly plan is met. Prepare progress/status reports as needed highlighting items such as: upgrades to quality, reduced costs and expenses, new equipment, improved productivity, etc.
- Lead and direct the Repair Department in the utilization of the computer system and identify improvements as they relate to Repair.
- Evaluate and monitor employee performance and proactively manage, counsel, motivate and train employees, setting goals, and leading by example.
- Assist Operations in forecasting and inventory management of Repair parts and bench stock inventory.
- Ensure that the productivity and average turnaround time of repair activities does not exceed established standards for all products.
- Analyze the statistical data related to inventory, scheduling, forecasting turnaround time, employee skill levels, department efficiency, and product reliability. Make specific recommendations which will result in cost reduction, as well as quality, service, and profit improvements.
- Maintain the QMS database. Maintain existing policies and work with repair associates to create new policies.
- Coordinate repair documentation such as schematics, BOMs, and test procedures.
- Participate in company-sponsored activities, including suggestion program, quality training, etc.
- Be an active member of the Safety committee to ensure the safety of the Repair area and all areas of the facility.
- Perform other duties as required.
- B.S. Degree in Engineering, Business or a technical discipline or equivalent related work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical environment with 2 years of experience at a managerial level;
Customer Service experience a plus. - Ability to manage people, set priorities, analyze situations and make decisions.
- Experience in scheduling inventory and customer priorities.
- Computer aptitude including data entry and MRP, SAP, CRM, word-processing, and e-mail. Strong Excel skills that include sorting, charting, and presenting data.
- Knowledge of inventory control systems and industrial automation products.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Strong communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills.
- Prior hands-on experience repairing Yaskawa Motion and Drive product lines.
