Overview

We’re hiring a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of mechanical systems across multiple bus-related product lines. This role sits in a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment and supports products from early concept through production launch.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components to meet customer and technical requirements
  • Make design decisions impacting performance, cost, and manufacturability
  • Support projects from concept, prototyping, testing, and production launch
  • Participate in DFMEA, APQP/NPD stage gate activities, and design reviews
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Supply Chain on DFM/DFA initiatives
  • Create and review detailed drawings, layouts, and schematics
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities
  • Analyze test results to improve performance and reliability
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA / 8D) and corrective action implementation
  • Support Sales and Field Service with technical troubleshooting
  • Contribute to innovation, continuous improvement, and potential patent activity
  • Maintain clear documentation and cross-functional communication
  • Occasional travel (up to 10%)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred; ABET-accredited)
  • 6+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical system design and manufacturing principles
  • Experience with APQP/NPD, DFMEA, RCA/8D, DFM/DFA, and engineering analysis
  • Background in transportation or vehicle-based mechanical systems preferred
  • Familiarity with Poka-Yoke, PPAP, VAVE, Lean Six Sigma, and GD&T
  • Proficiency in Solid Works (or similar CAD tools)
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Basic project leadership experience on small to mid-size engineering efforts
