This role requires mastery of CNC programming, a deep understanding of rigorous industrial engineering specifications, and a commitment to precision, operational efficiency, and safety.
Responsibilities- Program Development:
Create and refine advanced CNC machine programs using industry‑standard CAD/CAM software suites. - Machining Strategy:
Develop comprehensive machining strategies for complex, high‑tolerance components, ensuring they align with engineering specs and material requirements. - Technical Instruction:
Generate detailed tool paths, setup sheets, and technical instructions for multi‑axis CNC mills, lathes, and integrated machining centers. - Design Review:
Analyze 3D models and technical blueprints of cast components to identify critical machining features and potential manufacturing constraints. - Tooling & Parameters:
Determine optimal tool selection and calibrate machining parameters (speeds, feeds, and depths) to maximize part quality and tool life. - Setup & Validation:
Configure CNC machines with specialized fixtures and tooling; perform initial test runs and "first‑article" adjustments to programs. - Quality Alignment:
Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure all components meet strict industry standards, including dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements. - Data Management:
Maintain rigorous documentation of program revisions, process sheets, and standard work instructions. - Process Optimization:
Continuously analyze cycle times and workflows to suggest improvements in tooling or methodology that reduce costs and increase throughput by at least 10‑15%. - Metrology Integration:
Utilize measurements and in‑process probing data to validate linear dimensions and calibrate fixtures during process development.
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent; technical degree or journeyman certification preferred. - Experience:
Minimum 9–10 years of experience in CNC programming and manufacturing engineering, specifically within high‑precision industries (e.g., Aerospace, Defense, or Medical). - Software Proficiency:
Advanced hands‑on experience with major CAD/CAM platforms (e.g., Mastercam, NX, or similar). - Technical Mastery:
Expert‑level skill in interpreting CMM results to refine CNC programs. - Advanced application of in‑process probing techniques for real‑time machining adjustments.
- Extensive experience with 4‑axis and 5‑axis simultaneous machining.
- Technical Knowledge:
Deep proficiency in G‑code/M‑code, GD&T, and the machining characteristics of advanced alloys and aerospace‑grade materials. - Compliance:
Familiarity with international quality standards (such as ISO 9001 or AS9100) and regulatory requirements.
