The City of Buena Park Community Services Department is seeking responsible, enthusiastic, and energetic individuals who are interested in joining our Summer Aquatics Program as a Cashier.
The Aquatics Program is offered to the community starting in May with hours available through mid-October. The program provides a safe and fun atmosphere at the local pools for Buena Park residents.
The Cashier position is part-time, non-benefited, 15-20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays beginning May 2026. The ideal candidate must have excellent customer service skills. Apply now.
Responsibilities- Under general supervision, collect admission fees, keep accurate records, account for all money collected; perform general clerical work and light custodial tasks; and do related work as required.
- Use the computer, cash, and patron management system.
- Collect daily fees; fill out attendance receipt forms; balance daily receipts.
- Provide information to the public in person and by phone; inform the public of pool and park rules and regulations.
- Assist staff with program registration; take charge of lost children; assist with bulletin boards and swim registration; assist lifeguards in managing emergency situations.
- Log and organize lost and found; process pool rental applications.
Knowledge of:
Methods of organizing, conducting and supervising aquatic programs; swimming pool rules and general care of children; effective customer service techniques.
Ability to:
Perform basic arithmetic; plan, organize and conduct aquatic programs to completion; maintain accurate records and prepare reports; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, volunteers, participants, and the public; demonstrate ability to perform CPR and first aid.
Physical Demands: Frequently walk, run, or sit; may use hands to touch, handle, or operate objects; may climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; able to move up to 50 pounds; may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, or chemicals.
Mental Demands: Regularly use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data; analyze and solve problems; work on multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and under deadlines; interact with staff, management, vendors, contractors, the public, and others.
Work Environment: Typically outdoors in a public swimming pool environment.
Education, Training, ExperienceAny education, training, or experience that provides basic customer service skills and ability to handle change accurately.
Licenses, Certificates andSpecial Requirements
All applicants must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age or older at the time of application.
