Position Summary
Primary job function will be to weld conductor for electrical substation construction and maintenance, to include measuring, fabricating, welding and installing aluminum pipe, aluminum cable into solid aluminum terminal pads, as well as aluminum angle on occasion. Will require working outdoors and at times working at heights out of a man lift. This is a traveling position and the work schedule generally goes beyond a standard 40 hour week.
EssentialFunctions
- Aluminum MIG welding (able to certify 6G).
- Measuring, making deductions for fittings, cutting and fabricating material.
- Read and understand drawings associated with scope of work.
- Work as a member of a crew. There are times when there is no welding work, and you will work on other task associated with substation construction.
- Responsible for maintaining Company vehicles, test equipment and tools in good working conditions.
- Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
- Capable of working at heights up to 125 feet above ground.
- Must possess or be capable of obtaining a Commercial Drivers’ License within 6 months.
- Must supply own personal hand tools required by the company for this work.
- Must supply own safety toed work boots.
- Must be capable of lifting in excess of 50 lbs.
- Capable of working in confined spaces/areas.
- Able to work independently or with others.
- Capable of or learning to operate various types of heavy equipment:
- Bucket , derrick and boom trucks
- Backhoes, excavators and skid steer loaders
- Articulating Man‑lifts
- Pressure Diggers
- Trenchers
- Track Crawler Loader/Backhoe
- Rough Terrain Telescopic Forklifts
- Willing to work over‑time or long hours during emergency conditions and/or when requested. Schedules can change frequently and with short notice.
- 90% Travel Required
- Capable of following Company safety rules and policies.
- Willing to work outside of the normal work schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required for the position.
- Experience operating equipment (skid steers, excavator, man lift, fork lift).
- Commercial Drivers License
- Prior substation construction experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, handle to feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
