Job Title: Water Oversight & Landscape Quality Control Specialist
Location: Verrado | Buckeye, AZ
SummaryThe Water Oversight & Landscape Quality Control Specialist supports the long-term performance and sustainability of desert-adapted landscapes throughout Verrado. This role focuses on monitoring water usage, assessing irrigation system efficiency, and identifying plant health needs unique to the Sonoran climate. Through routine inspections and data-driven evaluations, the specialist ensures landscapes remain resilient in extreme heat and drought conditions.
Scope- Conduct routine inspections of landscapes, irrigation systems, and common areas across the property.
- Monitor water usage in compliance with local drought restrictions, municipal regulations, and best management practices.
- Detect irrigation inefficiencies and recommend system adjustments, repairs, or controller reprogramming suited to Arizona desert conditions.
- Identify plant health issues common to Sonoran Desert landscapes, such as heat stress, improper watering, pests, and disease.
- Document site conditions and track corrective actions using digital tools, reports, and photos.
- Coordinate with irrigation technicians, maintenance crews, water manager and vendors to resolve water or landscape-related concerns.
- Verify completed work meets quality, safety, and regional compliance standards.
- Support seasonal adjustments, including summer watering cycles, winter rye transitions, and heat-resilient plant management.
- Recommend improvements that support water conservation and long-term sustainability in a desert environment.
- Oversee multiple landscape projects concurrently, including renovations, plant replacements, irrigation upgrades, and seasonal installations.
- Develop and help implement long-term master plans tailored to Arizona climate and city water guidelines.
- Conduct site inspections and quality control reviews with a focus on desert-adapted maintenance practices.
- Ensure strong adherence to safety, risk management, and compliance standards.
- Strong observational skills with the ability to identify irrigation inefficiencies, plant health issues, and landscape quality concerns.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills for working with contractors, internal teams, and community partners.
- Critical thinking and analytical abilities to troubleshoot irrigation systems and propose data-driven solutions.
- Initiative to uphold the organization’s standards for sustainability, water stewardship, and long-term landscape resilience.
- Highly organized with strong prioritization, follow-up, and time-management skills to oversee multiple landscapes and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to foster collaborative working relationships with irrigation technicians, maintenance crews, and external vendors.
- Comfortable embracing new technologies, landscape inspection tools, and digital reporting systems.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in both technical irrigation issues and field-related challenges.
- Strong attention to detail in documenting site conditions, reporting findings, and verifying work completion.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and willingness to recommend innovative water conservation and landscape enhancement strategies.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education or experience in landscape management, construction, arboriculture, or water management.
- 5+ years of experience in landscaping, irrigation, horticulture, or a related field (Phoenix/Arizona experience preferred).
- Solid knowledge of plant palettes commonly used in Arizona, including desert-adapted and low-water-use species.
- Experience communicating effectively with skilled consultants and contractors;
Spanish fluency is a plus. - Experience working collaboratively in a team and managing multiple ongoing projects.
