Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
Location:
Buckeye, AZ – Naph Care manages all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the ASPC – Tucson.
Pay rates range from $45.00 to $49.00 per hour based on shift, site needs, hire status, and experience.
Responsibilities- Collaborating with medical, mental health and correctional staff to enhance quality patient care while maintaining a safe and secure work environment
- Assisting the Director of Nursing in managing nursing staff, monitoring staffing needs, hiring and training new staff, and conducting performance evaluations
- Effectively communicating with healthcare staff and correctional staff to coordinate patient care with providers outside of the facility
- Monitoring compliance with site‑specific and company policies and procedures, taking appropriate corrective action, and ensuring compliance with ACA, NCCHC standards
- Creating and managing staffing schedules to ensure adequate nursing coverage for all shifts
- Ensuring all healthcare related equipment and supplies, including pharmaceuticals and over‑the‑counter medications, are appropriately stocked and available at all times
- Maintaining current and accurate patient records and documentation
- Developing staff and conducting in‑service training for new and current staff
- Conducting daily clinical rounds to all designated areas of responsibility to observe and review documentation, orders, and patient care plans, and ensuring objectives are understood and practiced by the nursing staff
- Assisting in daily triage/sick call, minor medical/surgical procedures, and patient assessments
- Participating in all monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings as assigned and required in accordance with contract compliance
- Mitigating risks by proactively addressing potential hazards, including dangerous work conditions, health and safety concerns and reporting issues to company leadership and facility management
- Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in Arizona
- Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
- Two years of clinical and progressive management experience providing comprehensive medical, dental, and mental healthcare services within a correctional healthcare or acute care setting
- Ability to manage complex staffing matrices and clinical supplies
- Excellent communication skills with proven experience managing and training medical staff
- Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
