* Location:
** Bryan, TX
* Master of Science degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* One year directly related experience serving as a family nurse practitioner
* At least five years of clinical nursing experience is required. American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate.
* Experience with computer systems, including web based applications and electronic health records, some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
* Experience in health professions education is preferred.
* Performs history, psychosocial, and physical examinations, diagnosis of acute, chronic, and urgent/episodic primary care conditions, formulates therapeutic plans of care, ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic imaging, electrocardiographic exams, medication management and provides education to patients and their families.
* Coordinates the care of patients to provide safe, effective, efficient, and timely patient-centered care. Liaises between clinical staff and consult services. Consults with physicians and other members of the healthcare team regarding the care of patients as appropriate.
* Orders therapeutic modalities such as medications, treatments, diagnostic tests, etc.
* Performs primary care procedures
* Provides primary health care maintenance of the population served, including immunizations and recommended health screenings.
* Counsels and instructs patients and significant others as appropriate on medications, disease, procedures, and preventive healthcare.
* Assesses, stabilizes, and determines disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with policy regarding emergency and consultative call services
* Serves as a clinical resource for staff through consultation formal and informal education, review of literature and participation in seminars, conferences, and simulation.
* Documents clinical encounters clearly, precisely, and in a timely manner.
* Applies, models, and teaches evidence-based treatment and care in clinical setting.
* Precepts advance practice and pre-licensure nursing students each semester
* Promotes costs savings and optimal patient experience in primary care
* Participates in rapid cycle continuous process improvement
* Participates in data reporting
