work schedule and hour calendar- 12‑month position (260 days per year) – 8 hours per day
- daily work hours: 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm
- support salary scale grade s03: $17.82 per hour (starting)
- qualifying shifts eligible for a shift differential of $35.83 per pay period
this position is non‑exempt from overtime under the fair labor and standards act. Salary placement will follow the fcps salary procedures.
position overviewthe facility services worker maintains facilities in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety to maximize and optimize facility use by students, staff, and visitors.
essential functions- perform daily custodial tasks in the assigned area: empty trash and recycle containers, remove visible dirt and debris from floors, wet mop hard‑surface floors, rearrange furniture, and clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, and drinking fountains.
- perform periodic custodial tasks: low and high dusting, window cleaning, wiping down furniture and work surfaces, burnishing tile floors, and washing walls.
- maintain the assigned area at or above a level of cleanliness rated as "good" or higher on the custodial services inspection.
- lock and unlock assigned buildings and rooms; secure facilities when not in use by checking for unlocked doors/windows/gates, arming alarms, turning off lights, and reporting unauthorized occupants.
- reassignment between work shifts may occur at any time in accordance with the negotiated agreement.
- communicate in a manner that enhances productivity and builds respectful relationships across the organization.
- provide exceptional customer service.
- display an attitude of teamwork, cooperation, and professionalism, following written and verbal directions with minimal follow‑up.
- report promptly for work, use time wisely, and maintain an acceptable attendance pattern that does not adversely affect overall productivity or cleanliness.
- perform seasonal tasks: snow and ice removal, salt spreading, grass mowing, line trimming, mulching, raking, policing grounds for trash, and weeding.
- perform deep cleaning tasks: refinishing tile floors, refinishing wood floors, high cleaning from ladders or man lifts, washing furniture, and deep cleaning carpet.
- perform as‑needed custodial tasks: graffiti removal, replacing light bulbs and ceiling tiles, unclogging plumbing fixtures, painting, minor repairs on equipment, and minor maintenance of building furniture and equipment.
- respond positively to change and show willingness to learn new methods of accomplishing work.
- maintain work areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner, ensuring all work complies with osha, trade‑specific, and fcps standards and procedures.
- monitor activities in and around all work areas to prevent injuries and ensure site safety.
- operate powered work platforms, man lifts, forklifts, tractors, snow blowers, lawn mowers, and string trimmers per applicable regulations and safety procedures.
- inspect and maintain tools and equipment to ensure safe operating condition.
- communicate immediately any unsafe working condition, broken equipment, or any issue requiring a work order.
- report all incidents to the lead or assistant lead when conditions or others’ working habits are unsafe for staff, students, or others.

- ability to use a computer and properly use an fcps e‑mail account.
- some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
