:
The Executive Director (ED) of Oasis Free Clinics will bring a rare blend of strategic vision, operational discipline, and compassionate leadership. This is an opportunity to steward a trusted community institution into its next era, strengthening the systems that sustain care while honoring the human connections that define it. The ED is responsible for the overall leadership and management of Oasis Free Clinics, including finances, fundraising, operations, community relationships, and staff.

This position provides strategic direction and compassionate leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality and equitable healthcare.

Working closely with the Medical, Dental, and Board of Directors, the Executive Director strengthens organizational systems, fosters an inclusive and mission-driven culture, and promotes operational excellence. The ED formulates policy, establishes procedures, sets priorities, hires and organizes staff, develops and monitors the annual operating budget, and ensures compliance and fiscal responsibility.

MAJOR TASKS,

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative / Managerial
  • Develop and implement annual work plans aligned with strategic goals and priorities.
  • Supervise and support administrative and key staff, including recruitment, training, performance management, and development.
  • Convene and lead staff meetings to ensure effective communication and delivery of quality services.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in collaboration with clinical leaders.
  • Evaluate and strengthen administrative systems and technologies to improve efficiency and coordination.
  • Lead all fundraising efforts, including annual appeals, donor cultivation, major gifts, events, and grant writing.
  • Partner with the Board Development Committee to expand individual, corporate, and foundation support.
  • Strengthen development infrastructure, including Constituent Relationship Management System (CRM), communications, and donor recognition processes.
Community Relations
  • Serve as the public face of Oasis, fostering strong relationships with community partners, healthcare providers, and funders.
  • Implement a communications strategy across web, social media, print media, and community presentations.
  • Represent Oasis on local and regional committees related to healthcare, housing, and social support.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee
  • Monitor financial performance, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Develop grant and program budgets; ensure adherence to funder and compliance requirements.
Other Regular Duties
  • Attend and report at all Board and committee meetings as an ex officio member.
  • Support Board development, recruitment, and governance best practices.
  • Maintain a succession plan for critical roles including ED, Medical, Dental, and Clinical Directors.
Reporting Relationships:

The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Physical Environment:

Primarily an office-based role with occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. The ED must be able to attend community events and board and committee meetings, frequently during evenings or weekends.

Knowledge

Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree required;
    Master’s preferred in public health, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of significant leadership experience in healthcare, human services, or nonprofit management.
  • Proven ability to lead an organization
  • Proven ability to set and achieve goals
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and financial management.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the community and to equity, inclusion, and compassionate care.
Working hours:

40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends for meetings and events.

Freedom of action:

The ED works independently and collaboratively with other directors. The ED exercises professional judgment within established policies, seeking board input for strategic or policy-level decisions.
