The Assistant Director of Annual Giving is an integral member of Bowdoin's thriving, volunteer-based annual fundraising program and the Division of Development and Alumni Relations. Key attributes include persistent goal orientation, impeccable organization, ease with managing multiple, coinciding projects, strong communication skills, facility with technology and software platforms, and belief in Bowdoin's mission and fundraising priorities. Primary responsibilities include: managing a portfolio of classes/volunteers and assigned prospects;
traveling for volunteer engagement, assessment, solicitation, and stewardship; and overseeing programs as assigned. The Assistant Director is sharp, adaptable, and dedicated to Bowdoin and the development profession, enjoying a fast‑paced work environment with ambitious goals and a broad reputation for excellence.
Annual salary range: $66,500–$71,500.

- Bachelor's degree required.
- Excellent writing and speaking skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to organize and manage programs.
- Ability to work independently and creatively in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 20 % of the time.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Familiarity with computer systems and software used in development settings (e.g., fundraising reports).
- Minimum of two years of professional work experience.
- Experience with fundraising, volunteer management, and project management strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to engage and communicate with alumni volunteers in the classes of 1970 and older, fostering meaningful connections through empathy, patient training skills, active listening, and tailored outreach strategies.
Exempt position requiring time commitment necessary to satisfactorily complete job requirements. Hours primarily Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm with occasional work after 5:00 pm or weekends. Travel required.
