Position Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work under the supervision of our Pain Management Physician(s) to provide direct patient care including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, follow-up visits, and patient education. The APP will deliver high-quality care consistent with evidence-based clinical guidelines and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including medical history, physical examination, and diagnostic review.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic pain conditions.
- Participate in medication management, including controlled substance prescribing per state/federal requirements and clinic policies.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and imaging studies.
- Assist providers with in-office procedures and follow-up evaluations.
- Educate patients on pain management strategies, treatment plans, and medication usage.
- Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, surgical teams, and external specialists as needed.
- Document patient encounters in the EMR accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in quality improvement, compliance, and patient safety initiatives.
- Support clinic workflow and maintain positive patient experience and satisfaction.
Job Requirements
- Certification as a Physician's Assistant, APRN, or State of Florida Certified Nurse Practitioner or certification pending, as documented by temporary certificate.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Pain management, orthopedics, neurology, rheumatology, or primary care experience preferred (but not required depending on training structure).
- Strong assessment, diagnostic, and clinical reasoning skills.
- Excellent communication, patient education, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to function independently within scope and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with chronic pain management or interventional pain procedures.
- Experience with controlled substance management and monitoring (UDS, PDMP, opioid agreements).
- Familiarity with EMR systems.
- Knowledge of spine or musculoskeletal disorders.
