The Occupational Therapist provides quality patient care, treating behavioral, functional, and physical components of the patient's condition, including evaluations, treatment planning, patient treatment, and reassessments, as the primary responsibility. Assists in administrative duties as necessary. Complies with licensure requirements. Follows policies and procedures of Healthcare system, agency, department, and Therapy Management Services.
EducationBachelors of Healthcare - Required
Experience1 Year Clinical - Preferred
License & CertificationProfessional License with State of Practice - Preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
Core Job Functions- Performs therapeutic modalities and observations needed to provide direct care. Develops home exercise program to and instructs patient and caregiver needs for equipment. Evaluate, treat and instructs patients and caregivers using different equipment and modalities commensurate with therapy guidelines.
- Completes all required documentation. Assess patient's personal abilities and limitations and requests assistance in situations that exceed limitations utilizing supervisor and others in authority appropriately.
- Completes all required documentation according to Agency policies and procedures. Collaborates with all personnel through patient Team Conference to identify, clarify and respond to the needs of the patient.
- Follows plan of care developed by OT. Involves patient and caregiver in goals included in the plan of care and discharge planning. Plan of care is revised as the patient’s condition and needs change.
- Maintains contact with physician, nurse care manager, Patient Care Coordinator, Administrator and/or Assistant Administrator to keep all members of the team informed of patient's current status. Provides agency with documentation of continuing education courses attended according to State regulations and agency policies.
- Supplies are used in a cost effective manner and charged to the correct patient. Maintains reliable transportation/ability to travel as required.
