Job Summary

The School of Business and Public Management seeks a dynamic candidate for a faculty position in Accounting at either the level of Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Professor of Practice (non‑tenure track). The Professor of practice designation is designed for professionals in the field with extensive and notable career experience that they can bring to the classroom. Rank is dependent on qualifications.

This is an academic year 10‑month contract. The contract is expected to begin August 1, 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Course development and teach courses in Accounting including our two Principles courses as well as upper level courses in areas such as government and non‑profit accounting, taxation, financial accounting, intermediate accounting and statement analysis depending upon the candidate’s areas of expertise.
  • Teach 12 credit hours (Assistant Professor) or 15 credit hours (Professor of Practice) per semester in the fall and spring terms as well as optional summer courses.
  • Maintain on‑campus office hours, advise students, prepare lesson plans, syllabi, including course objectives, lectures, and other course materials such as quizzes and exams, and submission of final grades and attendance reports.
  • Some teaching online will be required.
  • Conduct academic advisement and career counseling.
  • Contribute to program assessment for the BS in Accounting.
  • A commitment to high‑impact teaching practices and engaged learning in the classroom.
  • Teach classes at the Brunswick Campus or the Camden Center location as needed.
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or a related field (e.g., taxation MSA, MST, MACC) from a regionally accredited college or university with at least 18 hours of graduate‑level accounting and taxation coursework.
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education
  • PhD in Accounting or related field.
Preferred Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the field of accounting.
  • Online teaching experience is preferred.
  • Active CPA license.
Conditions of Employment
  • Successful completion of background investigation and legal authorization to work in the US prior to employment.
