• Provide patients with information so they can fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services.
• May be assigned to a specific medical specialty department (e.g., orthopedics).

• Minimum Education:
  
  A high school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting. If not yet a CMA you will receive all hours required for the CMA exam and Hendrick Health will cover the fee for the first exam.

  Work Experience:
  
  At least one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of an externship completed in a medical office. Experience with electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection procedures.
• Required
  
  Licenses/Certifications:
  
  Certified Medical Assistant within 26 months of hire. Current CPR certification.
• Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols and procedures.
  • Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice.
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
  • Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
  • Skill in diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
  • Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
