Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance, and five to seven years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDirectly supervises three employees in the accounting section, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in calculating, posting and verifying duties to obtain and record financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records, as well as applying principles of cost information not available in the general accounting system by performing the following duties:
- Collects and analyzes data to determine the cost of business activities such as raw material purchases, material usage variances, labor and variable overhead.
- Completes composite reports from a variety of individual reports needed by management such as weekly cash flow forecasts, monthly capital forecasts, and monthly financial reporting.
- Assists in the preparation of annual budgets for each cost center of the plant.
- Prepares monthly work‑in‑process (WIP) inventory, coordinates and directs routine cycle counts of WIP.
- Issues written and oral instructions.
- Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve employee efficiency.
- Maintains harmony among workers and resolves complaints.
Required
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals, and to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and employees.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume, and to apply concepts such as basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form, and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Physical demands: the employee is regularly required to sit, occasionally required to walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
