The Department of Athletics supports the District and campuses in providing successful and well managed athletic activities in a manner that complies with state, University Interscholastic League (UIL) and local requirements as well as District philosophy regarding student participation in these programs. Along with all UIL sanctioned sports, this position is responsible for ensuring that booster and support organizations’ efforts and activities are consistent with campus and District philosophies as well as campus and District plans.

The Director of Athletics works to provide each student with an opportunity to participate in student centered, well organized, and developmentally appropriate school based athletic activities.

Education/Certification:

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid Texas teaching certification
• Successful professional experience and leadership experience in UIL sanctioned extracurricular programs

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of overall operations of co-curricular and extra-curricular programs and their roles in K-12 environment
• Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing athletics and extracurricular programs
• Ability to implement policy and procedures
• Ability to interpret data
• Ability to manage budget and personnel and coordinate district functions
• Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

• Five years successful teaching and extra-curricular/co-curricular program leadership experience
