Electrician

PLEASE UPLOAD HS DIPLOMA/GED, RESUME AND TEXAS DRIVER LICENSE

REQUIRED:

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required in English.
• Over three (3) years of related experience. A considerable knowledge of the specialized field of electrical repairs and electrical codes.
• A valid Texas Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.

PREFERRED:

Journeyman's license.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials; provides access for future maintenance, and avoids unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit;

pulls wiring through conduit. Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together and applying tape or terminal caps. Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment. Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels. Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads. Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery, and buzzer, and oscilloscope.

Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. Replaces ballasts, switches, outlets, fuses, circuit breakers, defective wiring, kiln elements, stove controls, motors, controls, thermostats, etc. Repairs faulty equipment or systems. Cuts and welds steel structural members. Drives District vehicles to and from work sites; obeys all traffic laws. Strives to promote the safety, health and comfort of students and employees in the performance of duties.

Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties. Maintains confidentiality at all times. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior as is expected of all District employees. Maintains professional growth by attending in-service and meeting as requested/required. Performs any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Director.
