Job Summary

The Pool Technician is responsible for maintaining the upkeep of the pools and fountains, including vacuuming, cleaning the restrooms, and maintaining the chemicals in the pools and fountains. The position works under direct supervision and according to set procedures.

Key Functions/Knowledge/Skills
  • Safely operate tools and equipment in all types of weather or conditions, including morning, evening, weekend, holiday, split or other work schedules.
  • Perform any other tests as needed to the water in the pools and fountains.
  • Maintain and clean the restrooms and deck areas.
  • Mow grass and trim tree branches and bushes.
  • Cleans, services, and maintains equipment used for daily operations.
  • Compare or inspect items against a standard.
  • Handle or use machines, tools or equipment that require brief instruction or experience such as water pump machines or other similar equipment.
  • Report hazardous and dangerous conditions in and around the facility, any safety concerns including incidents/accidents immediately to supervisor.
  • Perform other related work as required.
Minimum Education & Experience

High school graduation or GED. One (1) year work related experience.

Special Certifications & Licenses

Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Physical Demands

Light physical effort such as standing, lifting, moving, pulling, pushing, etc. Ability to exert up to 35 lbs. of force occasionally to move objects.

Working Conditions

Frequent travel associated with job; periodic situations that cause stress and tension in the execution of regular duties.

Other Requirements

The City of Brownsville requires all employees to successfully pass a Drug & Alcohol test, a physical examination and a Background Check.
