Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direct supervision, the clinical student will apply their classroom knowledge in a healthcare setting. The position will provide student rotations, externships and exposure to skills and knowledge necessary in their respective clinical areas of study.

What you will do in this role
  • Effectively identifies predictable problems and plans assigned tasks as needed.
  • Recognizes changes in patient condition and initiates activities to facilitate appropriate responses.
  • Communicates the patient’s condition and/or change to appropriate staff and/or physician, as needed.
  • Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency.
  • Prioritizes and plans all work steps to ensure success; considers time, supplies and support required from other individuals and departments in setting up work plans and completing duties.
  • Provides pertinent shift report to other members of the team.
  • Make appropriate referrals upon admission and throughout hospitalization.
  • Consider all available options and make appropriate decisions.
  • Assists in the containment of hospital costs through appropriate use of supplies, recovery of patient charges, and conservation of supplies.
  • Assists in the evaluation of patients for appropriate levels of care and communicates with others on health care team.
  • Communicates pertinent information regarding patient’s progress and discharge planning needs to appropriate hospital and medical staff.
  • Evaluates patient progress considering the plan of care and coordinates care to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Maintains harmonious relationships with staff members, providing support and assistance to ensure quality customer service.
  • Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in working hours and days scheduled in order to meet needs of the department.
  • Seeks and accepts input from Directors/Supervisors regarding interpersonal relationships that affect the department’s harmony and service ability.
