The Production Fluids Systems technician is responsible for building, installing, and troubleshooting fluid systems in support of the Starship production facility. Technicians are primarily responsible for building, operating, and maintaining these systems and play a key role in the design process by providing feedback to engineers on how the resources will be operated and maintained.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Fabricate and install fluid system components from a schematic or engineering drawing, including but not limited to:
- Stainless steel/aluminum piping
- Ball/check valves
- Pressure regulators
- Sensors/gauges
- Read and interpret planning documents, schematics, datasheets/manuals, drawings, blueprints, and engineering sketches
- Adjust, repair or replace faulty components of ground hardware, test, and integration equipment
- Connect and verify pressure transducers, thermocouples, and other sensors
- Complete necessary wiring of the electrical ground support equipment for ground systems
- Perform high pressure liquid and pneumatic testing
- Troubleshoot and repair high-urgency operational issues found during activation or production usage of fluid systems
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of experience using mechanical and/or electronics hand tools
- 3+ years of experience with pipe fitting and fabrication
- Experience working at a rocket launch facility and supporting launch campaigns
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting complex fluid and mechanical systems
- Experience maintaining a propulsion test stand in the aerospace industry
- Experience with orbital or structural welding
- Machining and metal fabrication experience
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with mechanical repairs and troubleshooting
- Experience with pneumatic/hydraulic system fabrication
- Familiarity with calibrated measuring instruments
- Experience using heavy equipment, including but not limited to, overhead cranes, forklifts and manlifts
- Ability to read, understand and follow detailed schematics, drawings, and instructions
- Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted
- Must be willing to travel up to 25%. Position is based in Brownsville, TX, however work at other Space
X facilities for extended periods for similar work may be required - Must be able to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
- Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C.
