Job Summary
The Maintenance Worker II Crew Leader is to ensure that all BUS facilities are being maintained and cleaned accordingly. Also assists in the collection and review of cleaning data to facilities and works directly under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.
Responsibilities- Average skills; knowledge of commonly used work routines, rules, procedures, or operations; ability to use specialized equipment.
- Performs landscaping maintenance such as trimming trees, mowing areas, clearing debris, picking up trash, and related activities.
- Responsible for maintenance of benches, shelters, and signs, including repairs, painting, and related activities.
- Prepares new bus stops by adding sign posts, benches, and other features as needed.
- Removes bus stop features such as sign posts, benches, and other features as needed.
- Performs cleaning of BUS fleet, including buses, vans, and administrative vehicles as needed.
- Performs general cleaning, such as mopping, sweeping, and dusting of BUS facilities as needed.
- Uses a variety of tools and equipment, such as lawnmowers, saws, and shovels for the maintenance of BUS facilities.
- May perform carpentry work, such as constructing benches, building walls, and similar tasks.
- Performs other related work as required.
- Minimum
Education & Experience:
High school graduation or GED plus two years of experience. - Special Certifications & Licenses: Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Independence & Judgement: Average judgment; must recognize and resolve problems, determine procedures to apply, know where to refer calls or correspondence, when to change or sharpen blade on mower, and identify equipment issues requiring attention; may involve freedom in selection of work methods among approved routines, setting priorities, or sequencing of tasks within established schedules.
- Initiative & Ingenuity: Work is routine/repetitive/simple; standard procedures apply; not expected to generate creative solutions; refer anything unusual to supervisor.
- Supervisory & Responsibility: Lead person in a small work group; provides guidance though not explicitly assigning work.
- Financial Responsibility: Does not deal with money.
- Physical Demands: Mostly moderate and fairly steady physical exertion; may require brief periods of heavy exertion. Ability to exert up to 35-50 lbs. of force occasionally to move objects.
- Responsibility for Equipment & Property: Responsible for assigned equipment/property used outside of office; handles inventory and equipment handouts; use of agency vehicle.
- Working Conditions: Must remain calm and follow procedures in emergency situations; frequent exposure to outdoor elements (several times per week).
